Glee!!

So we are officially back in the season of Glee, and I love it! This show is just hilarious. If you haven’t seen it, go out and rent the first season and watch! I was skeptical at first, but now I love it. I will have to say theyw ere pretty sneaky last year showing the pilot then making everyone wait till fall for the show to start. Tonight is the Madonna episode, I think it will be a winner! Coach Sue is by far my favorite character. Of the kids, I love Puck! He was sadly not in the first episode much.
If only I could sing, I would SO try out for next season. In case you haven’t heard, they are doing a myspace nationwide casting call! But…you have to sing, of course. How tragic the world will just have to miss out on my acting skills! Speaking of acting, Bobby is auditioning for a cool commerical but I don’t want to say anything about it until i know for sure he got it so, stay tuned!

I just got back from an awful 3 mile run. It is so hot and sunny and my legs felt so heavy. Even with Glee blasting in my ears, I thought I might die! I am nervous about my 5k this weekend, hopefully I will have a ton of energy Saturday morning! The forecast is calling for rain so I hope its not cancelled either!

Ok everyone, go finish cleaning house, cooking, whatever it is you have to get done so you can watch GLEE tonight!

A little of this a little of that, and calorie counting

Today was supposed to be a run day. It has been overcast and raining on and off all day so I decided to cross train today. i wasn’t sure what I was in the mood to do, so I did a few things! I did 10 minutes of the Wii Biggest Loser game. I haven’t done it in awhile so that was fun. Then I did some hand weights/arms and then I did 20 minutes on the elliptical.

The weather did shift my run plans for the week but thats ok. We don’t have a faculty meeting tomorrow so I will be able to run after school tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. Rest day Friday, race Saturday, eek! I haven’t run a 5k since October, so it’s been 6 months!

In other news, I have decided to TEMPORARILY start calorie counting. I am going on a cruise in less than 2 months and I want to tone up a bit and lose a little flab. I have been working out pretty hard with no results in how my clothes fit, so I decided to cave and record everything I eat. I have read of other people doing this, and it being the thing that really helped, and I have always scoffed at the idea of having to do this…but…I have only been doing it for one day and I really see where I am struggling, which meals/times of day, etc and it’s a big help! Hopefully I will see some results. I will keep you updated!

BBQ

it officially feels like spring. We grilled for the first time of the season! We went to Fresh Market after church and picked up some meat and other things. I FINALLY got to pick up some Zevia. I read about this on Lily’s blog. I was totally excited to finally try some! I got three of the flavors.

I wanted the kind that was like Dr. Pepper but they didn’t have it. Oh well! Here is the nutrition facts.

I tried the cola one for lunch and it was pretty good! Doesn’t have that chemical aftertaste that diet coke has. It also isn’t supposed to mak your blood sugar go crazy, and it didn’t make me feel sluggish after so that’s good! It is kinda pricey so it will have to be a special occasional treat.
So while I sat outside in the sun with the dogs and drank my Zevia, Bobby was hard at work at the grill.

After we ate we did one of our favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon, we drove around looking at open houses. We found a couple of nice ones. We like to critique them on what we would have done differently, etc. We stayed in our neighborhood this time though. A couple streets over is a beautiful yard with the most gorgeous roses.
They have a ton of them!

Today was a rest day, it’s race week!!! I plan to run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Cross Train Wednesday, rest Friday, race Saturday.

Trail Run

This morning Bobby and I ran 5 miles. We ran across teh road to the big nice neighborhood with the trails again. The trees have all grown in so it was nice and shaded which was great because it was sunny and hot! It’s also super hilly so even though we didn’t run fast, we got a good workout! I kept on the lookout for snakes! I hate snakes…if you didn’t know you can read about it HERE.

I had to wear a cotton shirt because I am behind on laundry..it was SOAKED after!

After we ran we sat out on the back patio and ate lunch and read and hung out for a couple hours. It was so nice and relaxing. I got a little sun, too. The puppies love sitting outside. Can you find Sassy?

The we went to an early dinner at Cracker Barrel and now we are watching a movie. It has been a nice day! Hope everyne else has had a nice relaxing day too!

The end is close!

Today was our field trip…but not just any field trip, our LAST field trip of the year! Do you know what this means? This means the end is near! No, not the end of the world, but the end of the school year! Progress reports for the final quarter go home Tuesday! eeekk! Don’t get me wrong, I love love love my children, but summer is fabulous! I am going to try to work part time this summer, but not full time, I deserve a break! 4.5 weeks left of school!! I think I am more excited than the kids.

No workout today, going for a good run tomorrow.

Race Sign Up!

YAY! Bobby and I officially signed up for the March of Dimes 5k for the 24th! I am excited, I haven’t run a 5k since the end of October! 6 months! I am hoping to PR…but that may be a long shot considering it’s already so hot and the race doesn’t start till NINE!!!! I have NEVER raced that late in the morning. ug. Maybe it will be cloudy? Anyway, I am just excited to race again. I am trying to get a couple in before June. I refuse to race competitively from June-August. My new rule after running the Run for the Son 5k last August and almost dying of a heat stroke before the race evn started!
Anyway, back to the race, I love running for a good cause. you can visit the March of Dimes website HERE. There is a 5k, 10k, and a 5k walk and maybe even a one mile fun run. It’s being held at our super fancy smancy outdoor mall. I will be sure to take some good pictures for a race recap!

So I ran a 3.25 mile maintenece run this afternoon. UG the SUN is my nemisis right now. For most of the run I was going straight into it and I had to shut my eyes to run, which i don’t reccommend because I nearly missed cars, pot holes, and ditches a few times. Added an intresting element though!

I sat outside with the pups for a while this afternoon. They love sitting otuside and just listening and smelling. Bella Stink loves sun tanning!

Almond Iced Tea

This is a yummy iced tea from a family friend. I alter mine a bit and will note where I do.

ALMOND ICED TEA:

2 cups of boiling water, put 4 family sized tea bags in (I use lipton)
-Seep tea bags in boiled water (off of the heat) for 20 minutes
-pour over 1 cup of splenda
-add 6 tbls real lemon juice (I use 5)
-add 1 and 1/2 tsp of almond extract (I used closer to two)
-add 1 tsp vanilla extract
-6 cups of cold water

that’s it! It’s easy and so good and summery! I just made some.

So I am such a goob. I remembered my gym bag today, but FORGOT TO GO TO THE GYM! I was on the phone with my mom and didn’t realize till I was almost home! Oh well. I was going to run with Bobby when he got home, but I decided I wanted to cook instead, so I did arm weights and 15 minutes elliptical. Good thing, because as soon as Bobby got home, we ate on the patio and it started POURING rain, we would have been right in the middle of it, so good call on my part! I will run tomorrow! Also, kinda fun stuff going on tomorrow, I will post on that tomorrow or Friday.

Losing my mind!

I tend to be very hard on myself, when I do or say something stupid, and particularly when I forget something. Today was one of those days. I had this big plan to go to the gym after work and before meeting an old friend for an early dinner. I packed my gym bag last night, and even remembered to pack a towel and magazines to read on the elliptical. Well…. I FORGOT MY BAG AT HOME! Didn’t even cross my mind till i was in my faculty meeting this afternoon! I was really mad because yesterday was a rest day, and like I said I was meeting a friend so I knew would get home at almost dark. UG!
Well, it all turned out ok, because I surprised myself! I love when I do that! I had a great time with my friend and then came home, full and tired from a long day. I walked in, changed clothes, and walked back out the door for a run. woo hoo! I NEVER do motivating stuff like that! Then, I had a bad run, I mean, tight calves, nauseated from my food, and very tired, just bleh. I looked at my garmin at the end of my 3 miles, and while it wasn’t a GREAT run, it wasn’t bad! It was faster than I ran my first ever 5k last spring! It was cool that what I thought was a “bad run” was last year’s PR!
Ok, on to more important things. GLEE IS BACK! I am obsessed with Glee. I have counted down the days. I have their cd and play it in my car and sing at the top of my lungs. I have DREAMED of auditioning for the new season…if only i could sing! Oh how I have waited months for this! By the way…the glee volume one soundtrack is a great cd to run with! My mom even runs to it!

Ok I am off to watch the rest of a crappy American Idol then watch GLEE!! Don’t stop believin!!!!!!

Potato Soup

Here we go with another not so healthy, but very yummy comfort food recipe.

Cheesy Potato Soup
5-6 potatoes
1 12 oz can evaporated milk
1 lb. 2% milk velveeta cheese
salt and pepper to taste

-peel and cut potatoes into small chunks
-barely cover with water and boil until cooked but still firm
-pour out 3/4’s of the water, add evap. milk and cheese, garnish with salt, pepper, more cheese, green onions, etc.
that’s it! so easy, and makes a lot so plenty for leftovers.

oh also here is our backyard all finished

Today is my rest day from cardio, I may lift sme arm weights later but that’s it.

Yard Day

Today has been a really good day! Well, this weekend has been a really good weekend! The weather has been sunny and upper 70’s, just beautiful.
Yesterday I ran and read in the backyard, and I told you all Bobby was going to shoot a commerical. Well I was wrong, he was wrong. It was actually a print ad. But, what was cool, we assumed it would be a bunch of people, it was just him and this one other girl. I will try and figure out where this is going and get a copy. Blue cross Blue shield of MS is part sponser of let’s go walkin’ Mississippi, so maybe something for them? Who knows!

So after that I met Bobby at Home Depot and we got some flowers and plants. Bobby wanted to plant some veggies in pots and I wanted some flowers. Then we went to eat at this cute littl Greek place. It was so beautiful, we ate outside. I love eating outside so I was happy. The food is bad for you but the portions are smal so I didn’t feel too bad. I had a ham and cheese pita and we split some fries, and I got water.

Then we went grocery shopping and that was our exciting Saturday!
This morning I got up and ran a good tempo run. I ran 3 miles like my last tempo, but I ran my first mile 45 seconds faster than last time and still managed to hang onto my 9 minute mile. I was running 8:30 a good amount of the mile, but that mile has two big hills. Maybe I should pick a different route for my tempo runs ha. then I ran my 3rd mile in 11:00 just like last time, so I felt good about that.
When came home Bobby was up and we started to work in the yard. The pollen has been so bad and our patio gets black and yellow accumulating dirt and grime from the winter. Every spring we use the hose nozzle thing you attach an kind of “pressure wash” the patio and it looks much better!

We left to get some pine straw, more veggies…and took a detour so i could get my first snowball of the season! Wedding cake with extra juice, YUM!

SO basically I will probably be very sore tomorrow between my run, and all the bending over in the yard, good! I love sitting on the back patio so i am happy it’s all clean now. I will have to take pictures of everything and post this week!
