Taking it for granted

Hello readers!

I spent the day babysitting, and we spent most of the morning here:

Getting paid to do this was nice! Anyway, I was chatting with the girls I am watching at a coffee shop this afternoon and I can’t remember what got us on the topic, but we started talked about running, and the girls recalled when they had to run a 1/2 mile in PE. I also recalled this, and remembered how much my kids in my class moaned and groaned when they found out they would be running that afternoon. I got SO tired of the negative attitude and the complaining that I climbed up on my soap box and told them to shut it! That they should be so grateful that they can run, that there are kids in hospital beds, in wheelchairs, that would give anything to be able to run a 1/2 mile in PE. It got really quiet after that lol!

SO that got me thinking that I, too, do my fair share of complaining about running on a bigger scale ( a half mile is thankfully a breeze now!) I started looking at my potential marathon training plan and saw that my FIRST long run is 8 miles and I started complaining big time! So I am going to TRY to cool it on the  negative run talk. I am not perfect and I think sometimes we NEED to vent about running, but I am going to really try to keep it in check and be thankful I have two working legs and lungs and a heart pumping blood and remember that I am better off than a lot of people in this world.

So if you are in the south like me and it’s 100 degrees outside and 100% humidity, let’s think of it as a way to get better, grinding out the miles in the heat, and remember that it is making us better athletes even though out pace is 3 minutes slower than normal!

QOTD: What are you most thankful for?

Boarding day continued (again)

Ok so back to Mickey boat pictures!

The last set I posted were of our room, and lunch and some exploring of the ship. Here we go with more!

This is the Quiet cove (adult) pool. aaahh

Mickey kid’s pool

eerr…random shot of the deck!

by that time it was time to head back to our rooms for the wonderful boat drill. Here is the obligatory picture…oh Bobby

Mom likes to wave at the camera

It was quick and painless, then it was time to get on the deck for the sail away party! Which honestly wasn’t that exciting and it was SO HOT I had sweat dripping down my back. eewww

As the party was ending we knew the boat was leaving soon and my dad wanted to see us leave the port so we went to the front of the ship and heard the most wonderful sound, the ship horn! For those of you you don’t know, the ship horn is the first 7 notes to the song “When you wish upon a star” it makes me tear up every time! We watched for a few minutes as we floated away, saw a couple stingrays in the water, then realized we had to go change for dinner, we had a 5:45 seating.

We ate at Animators Palatte, and met Ricardo and Allwyn, our awesome servers!

Bobby got the kids mac and cheese as one of his like, 3 entrees. They have the BEST mac!

This is a cool place. The walls start off as black and white and the waiter’s vests as well, then it changes to color by the end and they have colorful vests, too!

After dinner we went to the shops, Bobby broke his Oakleys so he had to get new sunglasses. Then we went to the show, it was the Golden Mickey’s, it was so good! I of course cried..We were pooped so we went to bed early if I remember correctly. Tomorrow we would be at Castaway Cay!

Exhausted is an understatement

Once again, sorry for being MIA. Today was Bobby’s aunt’s funeral at the same funeral home in the same room/parlor not even a week later. then we drove forever out to the cemetary and then the sweet people at the church had food for us. it literally took us a full hour to drive home. We are so tired! We even take naps and are still tired. We work out to give us energy and nope, still tired! There is still so much to do it is just overwhelming!

This morning Bobby and I went on a 3.1 mile run. It was nice and overcast and even rained on us a little but it was SO humid and sticky it was so gross. We took it slow, just wanted to get something done. I have now run 3 days in a row. Haven’t done that in forever!

I am looking at marathon training plans so I will post about that soon as well as resume pictures from my trip. Hoping things get back to normal soon! Also, Disney released free dining through December 21st, so let me know if you want to book! My services are free!

QOTD: What do you do to relax after a long day/week?

Versatile Blogger Award

Lookie what I got!

My very first blogger award!

There were just a few instructions to accepting the award:
1.Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.

2.Share 6 (or 7) things about yourself.
3.Pass this award to bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason!
4.Contact the bloggers you picked and let them know about the award
.

My award comes from Princess and the PavementIf you have not checked out her blog, you need to!

Ok, here are a few things about myself:
1.) I am scaredpetrified of flying. I think it’s a control issue, but pills don’t even really help!

2.) I have never broken a bone in my body. Ever.

3.)I was president of the national honor society in High school and won district MVP in volleyball my senior year, and 1st team all district for basketball. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!

4.)Roller coasters scare me

5.)My college degree is in Psychology with a minor in business yet I am a teacher

6.)I am obsessed with my iphone and playing words with friends

7.) I love taking pictures and would love to have a nice camera someday!

So there you go, I know, sadly my life is not very exciting. I tried to think of things I haven’t talked about much on here instead of the obvious you already know.

Now, I decided to give the award to two people, because in my opinion giving it out to like 15 just isn’t that special.

I am going for a quick run before it gets too hot. Have a good day!

Early Birthday

We went to my parents house this weekend and celebrated early. (My bday is the 13th) We did a lot of nothing, just hanging out talking. I did elliptical Saturday and Bobby and I ran 3 miles this morning. It was nice, and not too hot yet!
Last night we had birthday cake, it was wedding cake flavored, my favorite! (I also had a wedding cake flavored snowball yesterday!) So I thought I would just post a few pictures from the festivities. This week will be crazy, sadly, Bobby’s favorite aunt passed away this morning, exactly one week after his dad, so it is hard on the family, there will be another funeral at some point this week. Everyone has been so kind. We have gotten several cards, phone calls, and e mails in the past week and it all means a lot to us!

say cheese!

my parents put my presents in a reusable New Orleans Saints bag, haha

Look at my pretty cake! It has poured icing on it. Yum!

I definately had to light my own candles. not cool! At least they sang to me!

Now, I always, always, get a “birthday week” and I am not sure when it is starting but it must be soon! Ok going to unpack.

QOTD: Do you celebrate on one day or multiple days?

Spontaneous

I am not a spontaneous person. I am a PLANNER. I plan my runs, I plan my weekends, I plan everything! This does not leave a lot of room to do spur of the moment things. They make me nervous and uncomfortable and pretty frazzled. This is hwy when Bobby decided we were going to visit my parents this weekend for my early birthday celebration I kind of started to twitch. Of COURSE I can’t wait to go, but he told me at 8 pm and we are leaving at 8:30 am today! I have been quickly throwing things into my suitcase, getting the dogs things together, etc. Neighbors are watching the house, we are good to go! Now, just to ENJOY myself would be a miracle!

I am brining running clothes, I like to run at my parents house because it’s something different than what I run here! DO you ever get tired of running the same old course? What I do a lot is drive my car to a different neighborhood and park and run so that its new scenery, and that seems to make the log runs in particular a lot less painful! For example, I mostly can’t stand to do more than 3 miles around here because I get so bored, but I will glady do more at my parents this weekend. Well, we will see. I will check back in tomorrow and let you know if I really did, and I will try to remember to take some pictures, too! Have a good Friday!

QOTD: What do you do to beat running bordem?

Cleaning counts as a workout!

FOR SURE!
Today me and a relative spent 9 hours at my father in laws house, and 23 trash bags later of paperwork ONLY, the house looks the same lol! We didn’t throw away ANY “stuff” just went through cabinet after cabinet of old paperwork, etc. My back hurts so bad from bending over so much and lifting/carrying heavy things. That has GOT to count as some form of workout!

But in all reality…it’s Thursday and I ahven’t run since Monday and I am feeling blah. I am going to get back with it tomorrow, and try to write some more running related posts (sorry guys it’s been a little crazy here!) Yesterday was a hard day for everyone, but we are getting through it. SO many people came to the visitation and funeral I didn’t even get to talk to everyone! Thanks again for all your prayers, thoughts, and support! Here are some great tips from the home cleaning experts.

I will let you know tomorrow if I am sore!

QOTD: What household chores do you consider a workout?
