Jeff Galloway meet up

Friday morning came very early, but I jumped out of bed when my alarm went off. I was so excited to get to be a part of the Jeff Galloway meet up/tweet up. We had to meet the vans at 6:00 to drive over, and it was still dark when we got to EPCOT.

DSC00174

We waited in line, and had to sign a waiver. We were given our shirts (I was bummed I was given a large in my bag when I had ordered a medium, but oh well!) and I changed shirts on the spot. Who cares, right?

I didn’t care that it was chilly out, I was about to run through EPOCT with no one in it, with some amazing people.

2012-02-24 07.03.46

Bob chatted to us for a bit and introduced us to Jeff as well as Rachel, the winner of the Disneyland half, Betty from Fitness magazine, and Suzy Favor Hamilton, Olympian. We split up into two groups to run. One of course being Jeff’s run/walk group, and the other group was led by Bob and Rachel, a straight running group. The plan was 2 miles around EPCOT, and we took off at a VERY quick pace. I am a warm up kind of girl so it was tough keeping up!

IMG_7315

IMG_7323

We made it around the world showcase 1.5 times and then stopped in Germany for a great buffet breakfast. We each also got a princess tiara! I also took the opportunity to get a pic with Rachel. She currently lives in my hometown of Mandeville, LA, so of course we became instant BFF’s.

DSC00178

I also got to chat with the super friendly Jeff Galloway.

DSC00179

Rachel, Betty, Jeff, Suzy, and Bob all gave a short speech.

aannddd then we had a dance party.

DSC00189

To wrap things up, Minnie Mouse came to tell us hello and we all got a free 1 day park hopper pass!

DSC00193

We were then sent outside to our own private character photo session. Minnie was very excited I was wearing her signature polka dots.

2012-02-24 06.54.52

We had a great time at the meet up, I got to meet some great other bloggers and readers of my blog (hi guys!) The weather was great, company was awesome,  and I feel so blessed to have gotten to be a part of it. runDisney are some great folks, and I cannot thank them enough!

Disney Princess Half Marathon Expo

Hello from the Grand Floridian! We leave this morning, and while I am sad to leave my favorite resort…I will be happy to sleep in my own bed, and see my husband and pups. We have a long drive ahead of us though.

I am going to apologize for doing these recaps out of order, but a lot of my Jeff Galloway meet-up pictures are on my other camera, and I didn’t bring that cord with me to WDW, so for now I am going to tell you about the Princess half marathon expo.

On Friday after the meet up, we had a little free time. I joined Kelly Olexa at the pool for a bit before heading over to lunch with some of the girls and then out with the group to Disney’s Wide World of Sports.

DSC_0222

DSC_0223

I had a turkey sandwich and some zebra domes.

DSC_0224

DSC_0226

It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was excited to pickup my packets and also do some shopping.

DSC_0227

DSC_0228

DSC_0229

We were greeted by sweet Laurie, the expo director who told us a bit about the in’s and out’s of a Disney race expo.  Bob and Jennifer also spoke briefly (both awesome runDisney friends!), and then we headed into the tent to get our bib’s for the 5k an half marathon.

DSC_0231

Word of advice, print your waiver before leaving home. I am so glad I did and didn’t have to deal with the hassle of the computer lines and such.

DSC_0233

DSC_0234

Getting my 5k bib was seamless and simple, and I took some photos while I waited for the group.

eeeekkkk!

DSC_0243

We then walked the red carpet (oh yes!) to the expo to get our t-shirts and do some shopping. I was ready, wallet in hand.

DSC_0244

DSC_0245

After I got my shirts, I hit up the official merchandise and did some serious damage.

DSC_0246

Then I headed to the Running Skirts booth to see if Juli needed any help. I chatted with them for a bit until my mom, Karen, and her mom arrived. We did more shopping before going to check into our hotel.

DSC_0247

Since I have worked a Disney expo before, as well as participated in other runDisney races, I knew what to expect as far as the set up goes, but Princess had that whole new element of royalty and girly girl fun which I absolutely loved!

QOTD: What has been your favorite race expo?

Number 10

We came, we played, we ran Disney! Half marathon number ten is complete.

2012-02-26 09.50.27

Today is our last full day in Disney, so I am going to go play, but I will be back to regular blogging soon with plenty of recaps and pictures. If you are new to my blog, hello! You can go fill in the blanks on some of my old posts and race recaps. Have a great day everyone, heading to Hollywood studios!

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney park?

Way to Much Fun

Hey guys! I am having way to much fun to be sitting at my computer blogging. Full recaps to come later, I promise. I ran the Royal Family 5k this morning with some lovely ladies and we had an amazing time. Had a blogger meet up yesterday afternoon, and as you read this I am probably running the half marathon! Hae a great Sunday!

IMG_7459

QOTD: What did you do this weekend?

A Royal Welcome

Hello Friends! What a day! y time in WDW has been amazing so far thanks to runDisney and FitFluential. There is still a whole lot more in store so stay tuned. I am Tweeting as much as I can but I have NO cell service in certain areas so I am sorry for the delay sometimes!

———————–

Thursday morning my dad dropped me off at the airport at 6 for my 8:40 flight. I landed and hopped on Magical Express and checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge. The good news is I had a savannah view room, but the bad news is it was all the way at the very end of the hall. Those of you familiar with AKL know what I am talking about. It’s quite the hike!

DSC_0175

DSC_0174

DSC_0177

I even brought my stalker zoom lens and made a few new friends off my balcony.

DSC_0191

DSC_0184

I texted the lovely Kelly Olexa, and we decided to head to the pool for lunch and relaxation.

DSC_0192

After an hour or two, Meghann arrived and joined us at the pool. Kelly had to do some work, so Meghann and I decided to hit up Animal Kingdom. We had time before dinner and a 4 day park hopper to use!

DSC_0193

It was interesting being at the park so late when most people were leaving.

DSC_0195

DSC_0198

Meghann rode Everest (I don’t like dark rides) by using our awesome media fastpass that lets you get a fastpass for the current time. it. is. awesome.

DSC_0199

We split a soft pretzel (so glad we did later, we ate LATE!) and headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We met the others in the group in the lobby. But first, we had a goody bag in our rooms!DSC_0204

IMG_9374

we had an amazing time with amazing people and ate amazing food!  Callie, Meghann, Kelly, me, Brittney, and Christie. Ok, time for the expo, (I am writing this Friday) more later!

QOTD: What is your favorite place to dine in WDW?

RWS Features #13

Good morning! I am in Florida having an amazing time. So much fun, that I don’t have time to do a good recap justice right now! I promise to give you all the details as soon as I can. But I will tell you I hung by the pool with Kelly, went to Animal Kingdom with Meghann, and had dinner with an amazing group of girls!

Today I want to introduce you to Elle. Elle blogs at http://nutritionella.com/ and you can find her on Twitter as well. Elle is beautiful and so fashionable, and her blog is super fun, go check it out, now!!!

elle

(BEAUTIFUL PHOTO!)

Why did you start blogging?

1) I started blogging because I wanted to share my story and help others. Throughout my teens and early 20s, I struggled with an unhealthy body image which lead to disordered eating and exercise habits that essentially consumed years of my life.

Sum up your blog in a couple sentences:

2) Nutritionella is a blog for the food, fitness and fashion-obsessed.

What do you wish to accomplish through blogging?

3) I want to inspire healthy minds and happy bodies by showing others we have the power to create that for ourselves if we make it a priority.

What is your biggest healthy living achievement?

4) .  Being able to overcome a long struggle with unhealthy body image, eating and exercise habits by learning about nutrition, changing the food I put into my body and also how I view fitness. I taught myself to value fitness over thinness.

Thanks so much Elle!!

QOTD: Do you consider yourself fashionable? I do NOT, unfortunately.

Princess Outfit

Good morning! When some of you are reading this I will probably be up high in the sky headed to Disney World! My flight is at 8:40 I think….I can’t believe this time tomorrow I will be in Disney! Another huge HUGE thanks to runDisney and FitFluential for this awesome opportunity. I am so honored to e a part of this fun weekend.

Some of you have asked what I will be wearing, so here is my Belle tutu! I will be wearing a gold strappy tank with this skirt, so be on the lookout.

If you see me be sure to say hello.  My mom’s looks just like that but is light blue for Cinderella.

2012-02-22 16.14.54

I am not sure what I am wearing to the 5k yet, it will either be Sparkle Hearts or red dot (minnie mouse!)

——————————–

Those of you coming to the blogger meet up at the Grand Floridian, it is still on for Saturday at 3:00. Check out this post for more details. I have some great giveaways in store! If you have business cards, bring them, this will be a great networking opportunity!

——————————————

Remember to follow me on Facebook and Twitter (via the right sidebar) for all the updates. You can also follow #PrincessHalf all weekend, as I will be adding it to my tweets about the events! I will also add pictures to both accounts.

This afternoon I am hitting the pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge!

“See” ya from Disney, and for some of you, I will REALLY SEE you on Saturday or Sunday! Can’t wait, let the memories begin!

QOTD: Who is your favorite Disney Princess?

Princess Time

Good morning! I am in a fabulous mood, I leave for my parents today, then early tomorrow morning for DISNEY! I can’t believe it’s finally here. Karen and I have been planning this for a year. I finally got my schedule from run Disney, so I thought I would share with you some of the fun things I will be doing for the next 5 days.

Thursday I fly in, check in to the Animal Kingdom lodge (a room to myself for the night!) Then will probably hit the pool or one of the parks. We don’t have to be anywhere until our welcome dinner that night.

DSC_0668

Friday morning we have the Tweet up and run with Jeff Galloway through EPCOT. Then, we have some free time before heading to the Expo and picking up our packets and doing some shopping. I told Juli who will be working the Running Skirts booth I would swing by and help her for a few minutes. Then my mom, Karen, and her mom meet me there and we go check in at the Grand Floridian and relax, aahhhh. Then that night it’s Pasta Party time in EPCOT!

DSC_0635

Saturday morning will have an early wake up call for the 5k, also in EPCOT. My mom is the only one not running this one so she will meet us at the finish. We will hang at the park some then I have to zip over to the kids races for a bit then I have more free time. My blogger meet up is at 3:00 at the Grand Floridian, then I have a special dinner with the runDisney folks at Via Napoli.

DSC_0647

Sunday morning is a REALLY early wake up call…I have access to the race retreat before the half, then me, my mom, and Karen will run the Princess half marathon. After the race, the official runDisney part of the weekend is over, but we are staying till Tuesday! We will go to the parks Sunday and eat dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

DSC_0293_01

DSC_0304

Monday, we will hit up the parks again and then we have dinner at ‘Ohana, before we drive home Tuesday morning. WHEW I am exhausted just reading all of that, but I can’t WAIT either!!!

DSC_0631

Oh, also I plan to reveal my costume for the half on Thursday or Friday so stay tuned, and be sure to say hello if you see me!

————————————–

I can’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but a couple weeks ago I was sent to the YMCA when they were filming for a news segment. Our facility is brand new, so the news was profiling it, so I “worked out” on the elliptical during the segment. Here it is!

haha.  be sure to check out the other time I was on television.

QOTD: Have you ever been on TV? What for?

Rouge Orleans Race Recap Part 2

I left off recap part one with the start of the race.  We were so excited after the cannons blasted and the runners took off. Little did we know many hours later the excitement would wear off, big time. We had to detour to get to the first exchange point, but we made it. We cheered Kristyn in, and Erin took off. I was next.

We made it to the next exchange, and that’s when I saw the cows.

DSC_8830

On the levee…where I was about to run…

DSC_0081

I really dislike cows. I have been chased by a bull before, so the thought of being in a pasture with these guys made me a little nervous. Never fear! I brought my million volt tazer with me, and hence, one of our favorite quotes from the race became “I’mma taze me some cows!”

I crawled through the fence to the exchange point.

and waited on Erin to come running up and tag me for my run.

Thankfully, there were a couple of other runners right in front of me who managed to scare the cows off the levee, so the closest I came to one was this guy who stared at me as I ran by.

and these guys chillin in the pasture. MMMoooooooooo

2012-02-11 09.48.13

DSC_8870

One thing I definitely was not prepared for was running in the gravel. As soon as I took off I was SO thankful for the trail shoes Brooks sent our team! I don’t ever trail run because my ankles are shot to heck, so I was not used to how hard your legs have to work to run the same pace you run on the road.  Not to mention there are several holes and big rocks that made my ankles wobble/almost roll/scared the crap out of me several times.

2012-02-11 09.44.31

I was feeling good my first leg. I was excited, having fun, and the weather was gorgeous….even though it was a bit chilly.

2012-02-11 09.59.26

This leg was about 4.25 miles, and at the end I had to drop down off the levee due to construction.

2012-02-11 10.17.27

Trucks kept coming by kicking dirt up in my face, so I did a lot of coughing at the end of this leg. I made it back UP the levee which took a lot out of me, and to the exchange point where I tagged Lindsey.

DSC_8874

I ran just over a ten minute mile pace, which I was really happy with considering the gravel of the levee.

Leg one of five, done!

Onward we drove, meeting each girl at the top of the levee for round one and round two.

and did some goofing off waiting for the next runner to appear.

handoff!

The wind on the levee was very very bad. Luckily, I had my running skirts sub zero hoodie. I love this picture, I think it sums up a lot of the race!

Round 2 was a lot of the same. Drive to the exchange point, run up the levee when our runner was coming, cheer and take pictures of the hand offs, have a dance party, get back in the van and start all over for the next leg.

Erin tagged me again, and I was off for 3.58 miles on leg 2.

Photos of the Girls on the Geaux running the Mississippi River levee during the Rouge-Orleans ultramarathon relay on Feb. 11-12, 2012.

Leg two was really boring for me because there were NO RUNNERS around me at all, so I was literally all alone. The sun was shining, the river was to my right, River road to my left.

2012-02-11 15.15.48

I finished up with about 10:30 miles, and was so glad to hand off and be done with the boredom! My last daylight leg for the day was complete.

The sun was going down for Jenn’s second leg (she was our anchor runner) so following the rules, we outfitted her with a reflective vest, head lamp, and butt light and sent her on her way. Way sexy.

We drove to the exchange point, got Kristyn ready to start round 3, and that is when things began to go downhill….fast.

QOTD: Do you run in the dark? If so do you take proper safety precautions?

Mardi Gras Weekend

Happy Monday! Normally I don’t welcome Monday’s but this one I do because I want it to be Thursday. That is the day I leave for the Disney Princess half marathon weekend! So stoked, but SO MUCH to do before I leave! Oil change, vet appointment for pups, clean house, grocery shop for Bobby, blog, call some clients for both my jobs, etc. etc. But, I am starting things off calmly this morning with some yoga at the YMCA before things get crazy. But first, this is what you missed this weekend:

Princess Pampering

Weekly Recap February: Week 3

———————————————————-

Friday evening, Bobby and I drove to my parents house. We were in a hurry because Orpheus, the Mardi Gras parade that goes right outside my parents neighborhood, was rolling at 7:00. We made it just in time and headed for the parade route.

DSC_0092

The weather was perfect, mid to low 60’s and the rain was supposed to hold off until after midnight, yippee!

DSC_0096

We arrived about twenty minutes early and waited for the sounds of the bands.

DSC_0095

DSC_0100

Soon enough, the first floats started coming down the street. Side note: This is a small potatoes parade compared to the ones downtown NOLA we used to go to. But, it’s still fun, and so close to the house you can’t not go!

We have a roller derby club????

Saturday, we were supposed to do our long run, but instead spent some of the day under a tornado warning. My parents ditches are deep..and water was flooding over the driveway.

DSC_0146

Sunday, Bobby and I got up and ran ten miles. Mom ran as well but not with us.

We then threw a surprise princess party for my aunt who was turning 70. It was so cute. She had NO idea.

There were 18 family members over, we had a really good time. All too soon, it was time to clean up, pack up, and head back to Mississippi. A great, but exhausting weekend.

QOTD: Have you ever had or thrown a surprise party? Any special theme? We threw my dad a 40th surprise “over the hill party” when I was younger, we went all out, so much fun!

*More Rouge Orleans recap coming up tomorrow!
