Back to My Routine

Finally home! Until last night, I had only slept in my bed once since January 6th. Even thought I didn’t get back to New Orleans until 6:15, I decided to drive home last night anyway. So my trip home started yesterday at 8:00 am, and ended at 8:00 pm. California is fun but man is it far away!

Anyway, this sounds quote ridiculous I assure you, but I somehow managed to pull my back out at the airport. Yes, the same side I hurt around New Years. When we got off the bus at LAX, the man put my what I found out later would be 54 pound suitcase on the ground. Well, I had to get it up an dover the curb so I pulled it really hard…and…well, you get the idea. It was so painful I almost didn’t make it through security I kid you not. My mom had to help me take my shoes off, etc. because I couldn’t bend down. I don’t know what I would have done if I was flying alone. Pathetic, I know.

So I am officially now the old lady, sleeping wasn’t too fun last night because every time I tired to roll over I was reminded of the fact that I did NOT lift with my legs. Today calls for ice and ibuprofen, as well as a LOT of work.

That was a long into, but I digress. Point being, I am HOME and will be getting back into a routine, oh, how I love routine. I have six, yes SIX races to recap as well as lots of other fun parts of my travels, and, look for an amazing Under Armour giveaway! It’s going to be a great couple of weeks around here folks, and I am so glad to be home and back to my blog.

QOTD: Have you ever had an airport mishap?

Comments

  1. oh no hope your back is ok! Travelings fun, but it just doesn’t compare to being back home with a routine :)

  2. So glad you’re home and can rest! Don’t feel bad about your back — it happens to the best of us. I herniated a disk when I was only 21 and my dr was like “odd, this usually only happens to old people” hahaa.

  3. Oh no! Sorry to hear about your back. At least you are home now so you can rest! Gosh, I have plenty of airport mishap stories! It’s always something!

  4. Bummer. Sorry about your back. I lived in southern CA for a year or so and I remember thinking the flights from there to NO took forever too! And when I travelled during the summer how I could feel the humidity the minute I stepped onto the jetway!

  5. Oh Heather I’m so sorry about your back girl! I hope it heals quickly! Can’t wait for all your recaps! :-)

  6. Laure Simms says:

I did that changing the sheets on my bed. I could hardly move. Take it easy.

  7. Awww, sorry to hear about your back and don’t worry, that doesn’t make you old, I’ve had back issues since I was like 14 – not fun! I’m looking forward to your race recaps though and I LOVE Under Armor so keeping an eye out for that : )

  8. I had to limp through the Portland airport last April because my ITBS was so bad. If you’re hurting, I’m sure your furbabies will hang out with you. My mom threw out her back this fall and had to lay on the floor, which immediately drew the cats to her since they wanted to snuggle.

  9. Sorry to hear about your back, hope it gets better soon. I’ve had arthritis since I was 21 so I know how it feels to think you’re officially old! Can’t wait to read the recaps! Congrats on all the running so far this month, you’re a rock star!

  10. So to recap: You successfully run the Dopey Challenge, then run a 10K, then run the Tink Half, and a suitcase does you in?! Oh the irony! Glad to hear you made it home and hope you get Bayer real soon.

  11. Yikes! Sorry to hear about your back! Looking forward to reading about all of your adventures this month! :-D

  12. eek, i’ve never had an airport mishap such as that! lost bags, missed/delayed flights, but no injuries! at least this didn’t happen on the way TO an event!

  13. You must be so happy to be home! Hope your back feels better soon. All of that running and traveling takes a toll on your body, you have earned some much needed and well deserved REST! :)

  14. Oh no! Hope you’re feeling better! I regularly have problems with my neck. It’s the pits. It makes everything so hard to do. Rest up!

  15. Once, when I was getting off a plane after visiting my grandparents in FL, the guy in front of me pulled his suitcase out of the overhead bin and kind of lost his grip on it and it swung backwards. And hit me in the chest. And cracked 2 of my ribs. It was the most awful pain EVER. Every time I see a football player, playing through broken ribs – which they try to call a minor injury on ESPN lol – I die a little inside. I couldn’t even inhale without being in serious pain! (Oh and in case you’re wondering, the guy who hit me with his bags didn’t stop or apologize. Just kept right on getting off the plane.)

  16. Hope you’re feeling 100% soon girlie!

  17. oh man… that is the worst. Can I help make it feel better if I make a joke about your back being strong enough for 50 billion medals, but not a suitcase? Eh, I tried.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. CA misses you.

  18. Hope your back is feeling better this morning.
