Family Time

Sometimes it’s just nice to go home by myself (with the pups) and see my mom and dad. I had somewhere to be in my parents hometown yesterday, so me and the girls drove in for one night. Good for my mental health sometimes. I got to hang out with my parental unit, and they took me to dinner at Longhorns for a good steak. Yum! This steak had white cheddar and bacon on it. Holy yum! It was amazing. (We had a coupon, too which always makes food taste better!)

I look just like her don’t I?

After dinner we did my favorite thing to do in my hometown, get snowballs! I got wedding cake cream. My favorite.

My dad always gets ice cream cream. Oh, and we always fight over who is going to ride shotgun. Like…running through the parking lot to be the first one at the car. Mature adults what?

We sat outside and enjoyed our desserts then headed home for a night of vegging out (and blogging for me!) Today I am going for a run in my parents neighborhood and then mom and I are going shopping before I head back home to enjoy the weekend with Bobby. Sometimes it’s just nice to go home, even if just for 24 hours.

Also, a huge thanks to the folks at Cascadian Farm. They sent me an awesome care package in the mail for being one of their blogger friends, I may or may not have already opened some of these boxes…So so yummy! My favorite is the chocolate chip granola bars. If you haven’t tried these, run…don’t walk to your store and get some!

QOTD: Thoughts on going “home?” Anyone else feel the way i do? Where is home for you?

Comments

  1. Totally agree. Sometimes all I require is an hour or so at “home” and I’m good to go. Glad you were able to spend some time with your ‘rents!

  2. I love going home and talking to my parents (something I do almost daily from Germany). I’m so looking forward to returning in October even if it is just for a couple weeks.

  3. WOW!! You guys could be twins!

  4. You do look exactly like you Mom! WoW! :) I love going home and thankfully, it’s just a 10 minute drive away! <3

  5. My parents live like 30 minutes from me and I still love going over there. It gives me a sense of peace when I walk through the door.
By the way that snowball looks fantastic. We need a place like that here;(

  6. Oh my holy goodness for being a blog follower! I hope you enjoy it!

  7. I love going home too – just gives me peace sometimes – like roots!

  8. I’m having some family time this weekend! My parents are in from out-of-state. Love seeing other “close-knit” families, too.

PS- I LOVE Cascadian Farm bars. Deeelish!

  9. Sounds like a wonderful time. I feel like my home is, well, my actual home. My parents divorced and no one lives where they used to. So it’s not like going back to the house I grew up in or anything. I love to go visit, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t feel like going home (if that makes any kind of sense)

  10. You and your parents are so cute, especially the racing to the car part. Unfortunately, I live over 1000 miles from my parents, so I don’t see them as often as I would like. Lucky for me, my twin sister and I visit each other every few months (we take turns going to Orlando or New Jersey)… that’s really what “home” is for me.

  11. I have no ‘home’
no parents (yes they’re all very much alive though…I’ve been disowned by them…both birth parentals and one step as well…their loss lol)
love seeing real families like yours though

  12. I love to go “home”. Thankfully my parents don’t live far, so it’s easy to visit them. It’s always like a vacation. :-)

  13. I get to spend plenty of time with my family and make frequent trips home. It’s always nice. Look like mom, dad’s height?

  14. That is to funny that ya’ll call them snoballs. We call them snocones! I had one today too. The first one I have had in a long time.

  15. How fun! I’ve never heard of snowballs before-the kind you eat anyway. :)

You LOOK JUST LIKE YOUR MOM!! Your family sounds great. I won’t get on the subject of my dysfunctional family. :)

  16. I know that makes her HAPPY!

  17. Home is wherever my family is. Neither Husband or my parental unit’s live in the city where we grew up, but it doesn’t matter where we visit them, it still feels right.
