It Can Wait

Is it really that important? Too many people are getting into deadly accident because they just HAD to check that text/text while driving. Most of the time, the text is something like “ok” or even something silly that doesn’t need an answer. Not earth shattering things that have to be addressed immediately yall. I consider myself a very safe driver, but there is absolutely nothing I can do if someone else out there driving decides to do something stupid. Over 100,000 crashes a year involve drivers who are texting!

I am asking you all to take the It Can Wait pledge with me to not text and drive. The pledge states “no text message, email, website or video is worth the risk of endangering my life or the lives of others on the road.” Amen.

If you go to the website, you will see it’s easy to take the pledge and you can even share a personal story if you would like. There is also a badge you can download and put on a blog, etc. You can also use the #itcanwait hashtag when sharing on Twitter that you made the pledge!

Take the pledge, then put the logo up on your site. I am pinning it so you can save it from Pinterest!

QOTD: Did you take the pledge? I would love to know!

  1. In Australia it is banned everywhere to use your mobile phone in the car but if it wasn’t I would definitely sign a petition to change it.

  2. texting while driving absolutely can wait! it needs to be banned across the US!

  3. Texting and Driving and please while crossing the streets too! Sometimes, I see people not paying attention while crossing the streets. It needs to stop!

  4. I didn’t realize there was a pledge/campaign. That’s awesome. I am a very very firm believer in not texting while driving. I leave my phone in my purse and often won’t even answer a call. I’ve almost been hit on several occasions by drivers too busy texting away to bother to stop at a red light or crosswalk. Very scary.

  5. LOVE this campaign. It’s so true. I love technology but it can also be so dangerous!

  6. I took the pledge! I know here in Memphis it’s illegal – if the cops catch you, you will get a ticket. Not sure about the laws elsewhere but I have two precious little girls to think about so I hope more people will take the pledge!

  7. Amen! Texting while driving is never, ever, ever okay. I know people who sneak and do it, especially at stop lights, stop signs, etc. I have a zero tolerance policy when I’m a passenger in a car. If you pull out your phone while you’re behind the wheel, I will start yelling at you! It’s my life you’re risking in that car too! 9 times out of 10 when I see a swerving car on the road, I also see a cell phone in the driver’s hand.

    Great awareness campaign!
