Ok, so, I tried listening to music yesterday on my run. Nothing in particular, just the pandora radio on my iphone. It was so windy outside, but I ran really fast (for me) and felt really good! I was so surprised. Usually I am so tired in the afternoons (which I was) and my run is sluggish and hard, but yesterday i felt great, and felt great after. I did 3 miles, listening to music, and not only did it help the time go by but I think it made me go faster. I mean, I KNOW I went faster due to my time, but I don’t know for sure if it had anything to do with the music but I think it does. SO I was pretty happy yesterday affternoon about that. Now I need to actually download some songs and make a good running playlist.
Today I am going to the gym to cross train. I do not run well two days back to back, so I just don’t. Why force it? I mean, I will if I have to due to a scheduling conflict etc. but I try not to.
I got a shirt at the disney expo from www.onemoremile.net and it says “running is a mental sport, and we are all insane.” I haven’t worn it yet, still waiting for the right time. Just thought I would throw my little quote out there for you today!
Did you know insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result? hhmm..something to think about!

Music sometimes has the same effect on my running. But I still like running without music best, because I feel mentally cleared afterwards. When I listen to music I find myself singing those songs for days!
haha! well when my husband runs with me I don’t listen, and that’s usually our long runs on the weekends. But when I run alone I just get so bored. I am so type A and always thinking of things I don’t know if it’s possible for me to be mentally cleared haha!
My kids I teach just had a class play, and we practiced the songs over and over and I was sining them in my dreams! now THAT was annoying!
I usually run to upbeat songs for sure, nothing slow at all. I have a lot of Disney artist that I listen to, like Demi Lavato, Selena Gomex, but if you like country, I listen to Carrie Underwood, Glorianna, Rascall Flatts….anything that is really upbeat. If you run to slow music, at least for me, I feel like it is slowing me way down!
Yeah i listen to some country, but no disney teens lol! they just bug me I don’t know why.
yeah slow songs so make me feel slow, too!
You could probably look into some of the upbeat Christmas groups too. That usually helps me, especially if it is a long run! Some of the Disney teens bug me too, but I like a few of them.
Christmas or Christian? LOL. you crack me up
haha sorry, I was thinking about Christmas. I meant Christian. haha You know what I mean. LOL
yes yes I just had to give you a hard time! :p
I LOVE LOVE LOVE running to music, I really never run without out. I definitely feel like I run faster, and I just get way too bored without it. I know ppl say it’s a de-stresser and helps clear the mind, but for me I’ve tried to enjoy a “good run” without music and I just want to go home lol.
I love listening to the upbeat songs you hear on the radio, and then throw in a rock song, like linkin park songs or something. On my ipod with the nike+ feature you can have a “power song” that you press the center button and it comes on, which is nice for when I need a really big boost!
I’m glad you had a good run with the music!!
That’s neat about the power song! one of these days I will get around to getting a good playlist going!
