runDisney Princess News and Registration Information

I have accurate and CONFIRMED information straight from runDisney concerning the Princess half marathon weekend.

It’s almost time! Registration for the runDisney Princess half marathon opens to the public on June 11th. For Annual Passholders and DVC members, it opens tomorrow June 6th*. Not only is the Princess half an amazing and fun race, but this year there is a new component for you to “try on”, the Glass Slipper Challenge.

This challenge consists of running the Enchanted 10k on Saturday, and the Princess half marathon on Sunday (there is also a Cinderella Royal Family 5k, but it’s not part of the challenge.)

runDisney has also made some for-the-better adjustments to how this years race will be run. Folks, they are listening to the runners and care about our happiness and our safety. Check out some of the new information I was given as confirmed:

-The same new features added to marathon weekend 2014 will carry over to Princess such as decreased number of registrants by about 2k (mainly in the half marathon), more and smaller corrals for a better flow and less congestion, and stricter proof of time (everyone running a 3:15 and under will have to offer one).

-The cutoff date for giving runDisney a proof of time will be December 1, 2013. Changes cannot be made at the expo like in previous years.

-The Fit for a Princess health and fitness expo will reclaim it’s throne at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, and will NOT be held at Coronado Springs Resort like it was in 2013.

-All resorts will be host hotels for the event. This means it doesn’t matter where on Disney property you stay, you will get transportation to and from the expo and races!

-There will be a LIMITED number of spots for people registering for Princess that can ALSO register for the Tinkerbell half marathon in Disneyland! This will guarantee your ability to get the awesome new coast to coast medal (see below). Once these spots are gone, you will have to wait until July to register for Tink.

-Runners will receive a special pink coast to coast medal for completing both the Tink half and Princess half in one calendar year. You can also get a second coast to coast medal if you complete another set of coast to coast races such as wine and dine half and the Disneyland half.

*If you would like to register for any of the Princess weekend events, I urge you to NOT WAIT. These races fill up fast, especially with a new challenge being added into the mix. Keep an eye on runDisney.com to see how full the races are, and register ASAP if you have your heart set on running. You will be able to register directly on the rundisney site on the 11th.

QOTD: Will you be registering for Princess and/or the glass slipper challenge? What about Tink? Thoughts on the PINK Coast to Coast?

*I cannot confirm Disney visa early registration or discount, but in the past it has happened!

Comments

  1. I have my calendar blocked for tomorrow morning – I have my sights set on the Glass Slipper Challenge! So glad to hear that all the resorts will be hosts since I don’t know if I’ll be able to get into the DVC resort I want.

  2. Thanks for the updates! I won’t be registering next week, sadly, but I am super excited for everyone who will be! I’ll be pink with envy!

  3. Reading this just kicked my anxiety/excitement into full swing!!

  4. Now that I know they are cutting back on the number of entrants I will be registering. Last year was too crowded.

  5. not me. hopefully 2016…

  6. I don’t know if anyone I know is doing a the Princess next year. Of course, even though I’m not running, I’m excited to see the medal designs. I went gaga over the DDD.

  7. Thank you for the clear, concise update! All the info you need in one place! Do you know if registration will open at noon tomorrow?

  8. Sadly, I think I’m out for Disney races next year, unless something magical happens. Thanks for the update.

  9. Thanks Heather for the official information! I have an annual pass so plan to register tomorrow for the Glass Slipper Challenge! And I plan to register my little Princess for the kid 200M race!

  10. So no early registration for Disney Visa holders? Bummer!

  11. This is all so exciting! I’m planning on doing the GSC! I can’t wait to watch the registration frenzy! Fingers crossed for everyone!

  12. With my newfound love of running I totally want too! But hoping to get pregnant in the fall so that is stopping my plans for now. The princess is definately my end goal though!

  13. Thanks for the scoop!

  14. Thanks for the info! I’m planning to register. For me, all my races are leading up to this one. It may be a one and done for me, but at least I’m doing it ( I hope)!

  15. Getting so excited for registration next week! Hoping on board for the GSC and getting some girlfriends to join me for their first half marathon! :)

  16. Yay for the updates Heather. It sounds as though runDisney listened to their princesses from 2013 and have made great changes moving forward. I love that they will have more smaller corrals.

  17. Christina says:

How do I register tomorrow if I’m an AP holder? Thanks!

  18. Fun! I would love to do this challenge but am already running the Dopey Challenge 2014 so might have to wait :)

  19. How do we sign up on the 6th if we are Annual Passholders? Is it also still at the noon EST? So excited!

  20. Do you know if DVC members register on the DVC home page?

  21. Tamara Prochoroff says:

This is the first Disney I hope to register for; also I’ve never been to FL so this is my vacation treat to myself next year. Is it best to go through RunDisney. Com or call? I’m scared I may miss out with the reduced numbers and early registration tomorrow and have been training for this race. Will registration open at noon on the 11th also?

    • the numbers are only reduced by 2k so it won’t make a huge difference. you cannot call, you have to register online. yes it opens at noon

  22. renee saults says:

I was thinking the same thing Tamara. How many spots are going to be open. This will be my first half marathon and want to do the glass slipper challenge and I have a couple friends planning to sign up but I’m afraid they won’t get in if they dont sign up on the 11th.

    • they ahven’t given an exact number of total spots or early registration spots, you just have to keep an eye on rundisney.com for the %

  23. Great info! I really like that they have all resorts as host resorts – makes things so much easier race day!

  24. I signed up for the Glass Slipper Challenge yesterday! Woo-hoo! My husband and I have done the marathon at WDW for the past two years (going Dopey this year!), but this will be my first time to do the Princess. So excited! Convinced my mother-in-law to do this with me, and it’ll be her first half marathon. :)

  25. Great site you’ve got here.. It’s difficult to find high quality writing like
yours these days. I seriously appreciate individuals like you!

    Take care!!

  26. Thanks for your personal marvelous posting!
I actually enjoyed reading it, you can be a great author. I will make certain to bookmark your blog and will often
come back in the foreseeable future. I want
to encourage that you continue your great job, have a
    nice weekend!

  27. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!

LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  28. It’s going to be finish of mine day, except before
ending I am reading this fantastic article to improve my
    know-how.
