Pregnancy Update: Week 23

Baby and I survived the craziness of moving last week, and are settling in back in our old hometown with Bobby and the pups. We are so happy to be back up here, and are now just waiting for a few key pieces to fall into place.

23weeks bump

Symptoms: Feeling good this week! Aside from the crazy stress of moving and getting settled, things have been going well. My acne has gotten a lot better, sleep was better this week, and compression socks have kept swelling to a minimum.  My biggest issue has been the round ligament pain when I run. It’s bad yall. I even tried the Gabrialla support belt everyone swears by and it did zero to help me during my running. Sad smile Not sure how much longer I will be able to keep up the running unfortunately.

Baby’s Size: Grapefruit

Maternity Clothes: Sadly had to retire some of the smaller sizes this week.

Stretch Marks: No new changes

Sleep: Better this week! I chalk it up to being SO exhausted at night from the moving/changes etc. But I do get up 1-2 times to pee, and have been waking up earlier than usual (6:00).

Miss Anything: We went to a Mexican restaurant and people got margaritas and I couldn’t. Sad times. Really missing non painful running right now, too.

Cravings: Nothing substantial, I just like to snack all. day. long.

Aversions: Large portions

Looking Forward To: My appointment with my new doctor is Friday! Hooray! Can’t wait to meet her, and sign up for classes at the hospital.

What I’m Loving: When I tell people I am due in September and they tell me I look too small to be due so soon. It’s a nice confidence boost that I haven’t gotten TOO big yet.

runningskirts

Workouts: End of last week was rough because of all the moving, I was way too tired to do anything else…but I have run twice in the past 3 days for a total of 5 miles, and we have walked the dogs twice….so trying to get back into the swing of things!

QOTD: Mamas, did a support belt work for you?

Who ran yesterday for national running day?

Pregnancy Update: Week 22

Seriously yall, this is getting crazy. I get my weekly update and say “wow that was a fast week!” So different from watching the days crawl by in the first trimester! I am now 22 weeks pregnant with baby girl, and things are going really well!

22weeks bump

Post Mexican food lunch. I think it makes a difference!

This has been a whirlwind of a week for a lot of reasons, but I will explain more about that in a later post. I am feeling really great, my mild symptoms are nothing much to complain about. I bought a support belt so that fingers crossed, I can try running again. Hoping maybe late this afternoon/early evening I can test it out. Let’s take a look at how this past week has gone:

Symptoms: Slight swelling when up for a long time walking around, round ligament pain, tired, forgetful, back starting to ache a good portion of the day, mild heartburn some days. Sleep hasn’t been very good though. Acne getting better but not gone, but I am overall very happy with the way things are going.

Baby’s Size: Papaya

Maternity Clothes: Nothing new, but in going to the pool last week I quickly realized my bikinis from last year are not family appropriate for me to wear anymore! Must invest in one maternity swimsuit.

Stretch Marks: no changes

Sleep: Not so great. I have mentioned the past couple weeks I have had days where I wake up wide awake for a couple hours. Wwweeelll, last night was the worst. I was up from 1:30-5:15 and could. not. sleep. Preparing me for this fall I guess?

DSC_0022

Miss Anything?: Seriously starting to miss sleeping on my stomach and a good hard run.

Cravings: Not really much. I haven’t really been stuck with the “gotta have it now” cravings like a lot of women experience.

Aversions: A few days have been up and down as far as nothing sounding appealing and not wanting to eat.

Looking Forward to: Going to the beach for a couple days in June and reading some baby books!

What I’m Loving: Lots and lots of baby kicks, especially at night. Getting stronger, too. Makes it seem so much more real!

Workouts: No running this past week but I have kept moving at least 5 days a week. I walked almost 2 miles with my dad Saturday, then again Monday with my mom. Walking with the dogs when I am at home. Attempting to run with my new support belt this week!

QOTD: Did you run with a support belt while pregnant?

Did the month of May fly by for anyone else?

Pregnancy Update: Week 21

We are on the other side of halfway! Things are getting a bit more real. We started the baby registry process this week, and there is no denying my belly now. It’s starting to get in the way! Standing up out of a recliner is harder, rolling over in bed at night is hard, too. Honestly though, I will take these mild symptoms over what I know some people go to. I consider myself blessed for sure!

21weeks bump

Symptoms: This week has been a little different, and I definitely can tell I am slowing down. I had a few days again where I just didn’t want to eat and no foods tasted good, too. I am getting slight swelling in my feet when I am up and about all day, so time to bust out the compressions socks! The peeing thing has gotten to be a problem with workouts. I literally take a few steps and feel like I have to go. Definitely not ideal.

Baby’s Size: Banana? Carrot? I have heard a few.

Maternity Clothes: Nothing new.

Stretch Marks: same

Sleep: Oy. Not so good this week. I had 4 days where I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back asleep for two hours. Of course the longer it took the more annoyed I got which I am sure didn’t help.

Miss Anything: Nothing new that I can think of this week. Just the same sleeping on my stomach and getting through a workout without needing to pee four times.

Cravings: It’s been getting hot here, so Gatorade has been good, and I had an icee from Target yesterday. Yum!

Aversions: Just not eating a lot of anything at once right now.

Looking Forward to: Picking out a name. Baby M is still Baby M for now!

What I’m Loving: While registering has been overwhelming, it is fun, too. I can’t wait to use cute baby items when she arrives!

Workouts: I only ran once this week, but walked at least 2 miles a day for 5 days. Didn’t do the strength work I planned to do. Oops. Will try again this week!

drbrowns

Huge shout out to Dr. Browns. They reached out to me on Twitter and sent me the sweetest most generous baby care package this week! Baby M is already so blessed and she isn’t even here yet. I am so thankful for great companies like this that are willing to have me try out their products. I will definitely be reporting back on how I liked this stuff in a few short months!

QOTD: Did you have pregnancy insomnia?

What are your thoughts on the first episode of the Bachelorette?

Pregnancy Update: Week 17

Another week has gone by! I can’t believe in just two weeks I have my anatomy scan (but we are not finding out the sex until our gender party that Saturday). It’s been fun to see people due around the same time as me starting to find out what they are having, I can’t believe it’s so close for me, too!

17weeks bump

Let’s compare week ten with week 17.

10weeks bump17weeks bump

I feel like I look ssooo sickly and tired in my week 10 picture, because well…I was feeling pretty crappy! Let’s take a look at what is going on this week.

Symptoms: This acne is going to be the death of me….and round ligament pain still…even when I just power walk. I am not one of the lucky ones who can run miles upon miles with no issues! Also, I feel like I have to pee all. the. time. I start running. Have to pee. Doesn’t matter if I just went. Sinus issues/stuffed up nose and ears but not really a huge deal. Occasional headache, but not often. Round ligament and acne are really my two main ones right now. I know last week I talked about feeling lightheaded and weak in the mornings even after eating, and I am happy to report this ha gotten better! I am forcing myself to eat MORE calories in the morning and also eating more iron rich foods. Hoping it was just a phase!

Baby’s Size: Turnip

Maternity Clothes: Haven’t bought any more. Trying to make do with what I have but the amount of regular tops I can wear is getting less and less!

Stretch Marks: Still ok!

Sleep: Pretty good this week. Getting up on average once a night to go to the bathroom.

Miss Anything? Not feeling bad about caffeine. I would love a big starbucks, fully caffeinated iced coffee.

Cravings: Same. Cold and frozen things. Also, all the chocolate. All of it.

Aversions: Still not crazy about veggies (but really, was I before?) and large portions of any one thing, especially dense things like chicken or beef.

Looking Forward to: Feeling baby kicks! Hopefully soon!

What I’m Loving: That I finally feel like I look pregnant and not just chubby in the middle, and that while I still don’t CRAVE a ton of food, I am eating better and better!

Workouts: I took it easy the first half of the week because I had the big 10k on Saturday which was SUPER fun (recap tomorrow). My time was slow but I did it and am proud of myself! Back to walking with occasional running until this round ligament pain (hopefully) goes away.

Easter 2014

QOTD: Did your round ligament pain ever go away? Who raced this past weekend?

**For Two Fitness is having a HUGE anniversary giveaway on their blog! Grand prize valued at over $600!!

Pregnancy Update: Week 16

16 weeks already, and more of my blogger friends are announcing pregnancies! I love it! So many babies coming this fall. I am now wearing maternity clothes full time when I am wearing “real” clothes, aside from some larger t-shirts and things. I have a long torso, so shirts are already almost too short on me, so add in a baby belly and it doesn’t take long for them to REALLY be too short on me.

16weeks bump

Definitely some new/different developments this week. I felt great all week the wham, Monday I felt like I was back in my first tri. Didn’t want to eat, felt yucky, and was exhausted. Like, spent ten hours plus a 1.5 hour nap exhausted. That was depressing, but I am feeling a little better today. A lot has been going on in my family so it could be stress related as well. I’m also having some different symptoms, so let’s move on and take a look.

Symptoms: occasional headaches, acne, forgetfulness, emotional, and now dealing with low blood sugar or possibly low iron. I get really weak and shaky/dizzy (always dizzy when I stand up too fast) so trying to eat more balanced meals, iron, etc. and get this under control. Still experiencing round ligament pain some, but I only ran once last week and that seemed to be when it was the worst, so I didn’t run anymore (Well, I did a run walk once). Also slight swelling in my feet when I stand too long.

Baby’s Size: Avocado

Maternity Clothes: Life savers on bottom. Loving maxi dresses and flowy skirts in particular!

Stretch Marks: nada

Sleep: Not getting up to pee as much, usually once a night, had a decent week!

Miss Anything?: A hard sweaty workout. I just haven’t felt up to it.

Cravings: Same. Anything frozen or really cold. And chocolate.

Aversions: eh. A lot of things, and some things I can eat just not in large quantities. I can eat grilled chicken but just a few bites then I can’t handle it, for example.

Looking Forward To: Planning our gender reveal BBQ with my mom and hashing out all the details this weekend. (Date is set for Mother’s Day weekend!)

What I’m Loving: That I finally am starting to look pregnant and not just chubby.

Workouts: One run, one run/walk, and 3 other walks. Also a 30 minute circuit in my living room of various exercises and stretches. Not a great week, but it was a little out of whack with going to my parents and up to the hospital to see my grandmother etc.

QOTD: Anyone else suffer from dizziness/low blood sugar or low iron when pregnant?

Pregnancy Cravings

Hey guys! No real post on my blog today, but I would love it if you went over to check out my guest post on Curbing Pregnancy Cravings on the For Two Fitness blog!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, it’s supposed to be a pretty one here, I plan to be outside as much as I can!

QOTD: What are you doing this weekend?

Pregnancy Update: Week 15

Woo hoo! The weeks are ticking by! In a way I want them to speed up, but I also want them to slow down because I have so much to do and so many things I hope to happen before September. I haven’t said much about it on here, but at the end of February my husband very unexpectedly lost his job, and we have been seriously struggling to find him something else. I have been a basket case, very stressed out about how this is all going to pan out. I’m trying to remember that God is in control, but it’s hard when you get news like that at the worst possible time. We are doing everything we know to do to find him more work, but it’s just tough out there, and he’s NOT being picky…which actually makes it even more frustrating and scary. When we decided to start trying for a baby, he had what we thought was a solid job, and obviously if he was unemployed we would have held off on trying, so this is just a scary time for us. Anyway, I don’t want to get into it too much because it just upsets me, but that’s what’s been going on.

15weeks bump

Bloating has gone down, I feel like I look smaller than at 13 weeks

The first few days of last week I felt really good, and then Sunday and Monday wham! I was hit with really bad headaches, and feeling sick to my stomach again. Things were better yesterday thankfully, but it was strange to go backwards after I was feeling so good! Here is what has been going on over the past week:

Symptoms: Headaches, acne, sinus problems, round ligament pain (like WOAH), shortness of breathe, constant peeing.

Baby’s Size: One source says navel orange, one says apple.

Maternity Clothes: My awesome parents bought me some at Old Navy this weekend. SO comfy!

Stretch Marks: Still crossing fingers.

Sleep: Not as good this week. Every night I have gotten up at least twice to pee, sometimes three times. Yikes.

Miss Anything? I feel like my emotions are all over the place and I don’t like not feeling in control of them, so ya I miss feeling like a normal person.

Cravings: Frozen grapes. Really anything frozen.

Aversions: Really thick heavy things, I just can’t eat more than a couple of bites of chicken or beef by themselves, too dense if that makes sense.

Looking Forward to: My appointment TODAY!

What I’m Loving: That my bloating has finally gone down and I don’t feel quite as uncomfortable as I did between weeks 8-11.

Workouts: Alright. I ran three times (2,2.5, and 5) and walked every day. I am experiencing some round ligament pain when I run, so I am hoping it’s just a phase and won’t change my ability to run through pregnancy!

Post 5 mile run, that was a doozey! (Lots of walk breaks!)

QOTD: Have you ever been unemployed? Any advice for us?

My how to beat pregnancy cravings post is up on the For Two Fitness blog!

What I’m Loving: April 2014

Thanks for all the feedback on wanting to hear my Katrina story, I will try to have it up Thursday.

Today I wanted to share some things that I am loving lately!

1.) Cascadian Farms new chewy bars with protein: I have always loved their chewy bars, they are a great snack to fit in my purse. However,  always did wish they kept me feeling full a little longer and had some protein in them. Well, my wish was granted! Lookie what they sent me in the mail! These babies have 9 grams of protein and come in yummy flavors. One of my favorite snacks is now seriously pumped up to keep me going in between meals. Instant love.

cascadian pea protein

2.) Fit Pregnancy: Awhile back Jen sent me a link for a free digital subscription to Fit Pregnancy, and I have enjoyed reading it the past couple of months. I have learned several new things, and it keeps me motivated!

3.) Old Navy Maternity clothes: There is a special sale going on right now through April 9th where if you use your Old Navy credit card (or Gap or Banana) you get 30% off your entire purchase plus a free tote bag! We saved over $50 on the clothes my mom bought for me between that discount and some sale items. I was pretty stoked! (Discount works online, too!) So besides the awesome price, their clothes are super comfortable and they have some great spring colors.

4.) Caramel Coconut coffee creamer: It is girl scout cookie time, but also girl scout cookie creamer time! This caramel coconut has a great flavor and I have loved adding it to my half-caff cup of coffee in the mornings. Yum!

5.) Spring flowers: Spring has definitely sprung aorund here, and everyone is busy planting beautiful flowers in front of their house. We haven’t done that, but all of our flowering bushes have come to life, and I can’t wait for the Gardenias to bloom later on.

QOTD: What are you loving this month?

Pregnancy Update: Week 13

I hit the 13 week mark yesterday, hooray! There is some debate on if this marks the beginning of the second trimester or not. Both of the emails I got yesterday about week 13 said I was now in the second trimester, so I’m not sure what to believe! Regardless, the bump is definitely GROWING, and this past week has led to some changing symptoms. Let’s take a look:

13weeks bump3

Bella is SUCH a camera hog! I sense some sibling rivalry/jealousy already! I took this photo right after a terribly crappy run, sorry for the look of exhaustion and death.

Symptoms: round ligament pain, constipation, bloating, acne, fatigue, nausea in the evenings and if I don’t eat, forgetfulness. My nausea went ALMOST away beginning of last week then hit me again 3 days ago and I have felt the need to dry heave nonstop, like it’s just below the surface if anything were to trigger it. It’s a strange feeling!

Baby’s Size: peach

Maternity Clothes: Haven’t bought any yet but think I will soon here!

Stretch Marks: None yet

Sleep: Pretty good. Getting up at least once to go to the bathroom, still sleep about ten hours at night.

Miss Anything?: Craving food and having an appetite.

Cravings: Still just really cold or frozen things like icees and the like.

Aversions: Most foods I guess, I just don’t want to eat and have to make myself.

Looking Forward to: Hearing the heartbeat at my next appointment!

What I’m Loving: My snoogle! Bobby loves it, too.

snoogle

Workouts: Getting better, still not great. I ran TWICE last week, woo hoo! 2 miles one day, and 5 another. Slow with walk breaks, but still really proud. I also walked the dogs every day between .75 and 1.25 miles. I am trying to MOVE at least six days a week, I’m hoping to be able to add weight lifting back in again this week maybe.

My next appointment is April 9th, counting down the days!

I also wanted to announce I am now a For Two Fitness ambassador! Pregnant mamas, it’s a great maternity apparel company with super cute running and training clothes, be sure to check them out!

QOTD: Did you have a snoogle? Round ligament pain? When will I crave FOOD again?!?!
